Most solicitations are small and fast: a part number, a quantity, a delivery date, and a one-to-three-week window. Many specify approved sources; many others are open to any manufacturer or authorized dealer who can meet the spec.

For a machine shop, electronics builder, or industrial distributor, this category works differently from the RFP categories: volume and response speed beat proposal craft. The winners quote dozens of solicitations a week and treat it as a sales channel with a known hit rate. Two details matter disproportionately: the place of performance is usually the vendor's own facility (so nationwide listings are your local market), and set-asides for small manufacturers are everywhere.
